Before your files are transmitted to Divinsa's servers, they are encrypted and compressed. This compression ensures that the time it takes to do backups is shorter. And because most files are significantly smaller, you use less storage space on our servers and thus save money.

Different file types will compress to different levels. Files, such as multimedia files like MP3s and pictures are already compressed, so you will see little or no additional compression. Other files such as Microsoft Word documents and many databases can be compressed by more than 80%. Compression rates depend a great deal on the ratio of text to binary information. For example, you will notice a much better compression for Microsoft Outlook .pst files and Microsoft Exchange databases if most emails contain only text rather than binary attachments.

An easy way to estimate the compressed size of your data files is to ZIP them and compare the size of the compressed file to the original file.
